AI Example

1. Home Page — Hook Them Immediately

  • Powerful headline — what you do and who it changes (e.g. “Growing confidence, growing futures — for families across rural [County]”)
  • One compelling image — families or children on the land, working together
  • Three clear calls to action — Visit Us / Volunteer / Donate — visible without scrolling
  • A 30-second summary of who you are
  • A short video if you have one — farm settings film beautifully

2. About Us

  • Your story — how and why the charity started
  • Your mission and values
  • The need you’re meeting — families you work with and why rural support matters
  • Your trustees and staff with photos — builds trust
  • Registered charity number — prominent, reassures donors and funders

3. What We Do

  • Photos and case studies (anonymised if needed)
  • Who you work with — referral routes, self-referral, age groups

4. Volunteer Page — Make This Really Strong

This needs to work hard as farm volunteering is a specific ask.

What volunteers actually do — be specific:

  • Building and maintaining the kitchen garden
  • Growing, planting, harvesting
  • General land and grounds maintenance
  • Construction and practical tasks
  • Working alongside families (if appropriate)

What volunteers need to know:

  • When — days/times available, minimum commitment
  • What to bring — clothing, boots etc.
  • Who else will be there
  • Whether they need a DBS check
  • Training or induction provided
  • What they’ll get out of it — skills, fresh air, community, purpose
  • Expenses — travel, lunch?

Volunteer stories

  • Short quotes or profiles from existing volunteers
  • Photos of volunteers on the land — this is your biggest recruitment tool

Simple sign-up

  • Short form — name, contact, availability, skills, any relevant experience
  • Quick response promise — “We’ll be in touch within 3 days”

5. Donate Page — Remove Every Barrier

  • Why donate — direct link between money and impact (“£30 buys seeds for a season’s growing”)
  • One-off and regular giving options
  • A donate button on every page — not just the donate page
  • Multiple ways to give:
    • Online (JustGiving, CAF, Stripe, PayPal)
    • Bank transfer details
    • Cheque address
    • Gift Aid declaration — critical, adds 25% at no cost to donor
  • Donate in kind — tools, seeds, equipment, materials for the farm
  • Leave a legacy — even a brief mention
  • Show what amounts achieve — make it tangible:
AmountWhat It Does
£10Buys seeds for a family session
£25Funds tools for a month
£50Supports a family for a week
£100Helps run a half-term programme
£500Funds a full growing season

6. The Farm & Setting — Showcase It

This is your unique selling point — don’t hide it.

  • Photo gallery — seasons, activities, produce, wildlife
  • Virtual tour or video if possible
  • Description of the land, garden, growing areas
  • The ethos — why nature and growing matters for families
  • Any animals on site — huge draw for volunteers and donors alike
  • What’s growing — a seasonal update keeps the site feeling alive

  • This is what keeps volunteers engaged and donors giving again
