Family Programme
Our Family Programme supports families who may be experiencing difficulty, stress or crisis.
Families visit Longmead for day visits and short stays, during which we work alongside them to encourage participation, reflection and positive shared experiences. Through everyday activities such as preparing meals, spending time outdoors, creative play and working together, families are supported to reconnect and strengthen relationships.
Rather than intervening, we focus on walking alongside families, offering encouragement, structure and space for change to happen naturally.
Preparing meals together
Cooking and sharing meals as a family — a simple, natural way to build connection and routine
Spending time outdoors
Six acres of space to explore and enjoy including walks and woodlands. Safe, fun outdoor sessions where children lead and explore at their own pace
Creative play
It’s not all about work, the Art Barn offers a chance to discover your creative side
Working together
Planned activities can be working on the farm, tending and planting vegetables and working in the poly tunnel
Strengthening relationships
time to communicate, talk, listen and enjoy each other
Space for change
Leaving behind normal routine and pressures. Informal, non-judgemental support for parents and carers navigating challenging times
What We Offer
Young People
We offer opportunities for children and young people to build confidence, develop practical skills and connect with others in a supportive, outdoor setting.
Our work with young people may take place through groups, schools, holiday activities and other pathways, and includes creative, nature‑based and hands‑on activities designed to support wellbeing, self‑esteem and social connection.
Activities are adapted to meet different needs and abilities, including those of young people with SEND or additional emotional needs.
Family Support
We support families experiencing a broad range of challenges, including parenting difficulties, emotional and mental health concerns, SEND, trauma, conflict, isolation and bereavement.
Support may include:
- Family Days in a relaxed, homelike environment
- A programme of 2–6 sessions, tailored to need
- Practical activities, shared meals and outdoor time
- Evidence‑informed approaches to strengthen relationships and confidence
Referrals are accepted from professionals. Following referral, we meet families to understand their needs before introducing them to Longmead.
